Individual Actions

What can I do?

Individual actions can have a direct impact on air pollution. Reducing energy use when at home, at work and travelling can not only cut emissions but also save you money.

The main cause of local air pollution in Sussex is traffic. So the best action that we can take to improve air quality is to walk, cycle, take public transport or use the car less. These also contribute to a healthier lifestyle, and can sometimes be quicker and cheaper.

Keep your car serviced and the tyres inflated properly, to reduce emissions and running costs.

If you are waiting to pick up passengers, are parked up or stuck in traffic then turn your engine off.

If you have a wood-burning stove or open fire then maintain your stove and only use logs with the ‘Ready to Burn’ logo.
